I used to light fires on my rooftop, over some red bricks to protect the roof membrane (didn't work). I tried to capture some of its ghostly character with lines.

Open fire is always mesmerizing to watch. 

Did you know the term "mesmerizing" comes from someone's name? Franz Mesmer. There is a great, horrifying movie about Mesmer named Cure, directed by Kyoshi Kurosawa.
